Will GPU mining end after the Merge (formerly called ETH 2.0)? Here we are in 2022, and the merge is still 3-6 months away. Just like it has been for the past 4 years. It’s practically a punchline at this point. But despite the countless delays – we really are approaching the finish line. The […]
GPU Mining profitability in 2022 Anyone who has been mining in 2022 has felt the pinch. Difficulty is rising and the price of ETH is dropping, among other things. You might be starting to wonder if building that farm was worth it. But the mining calculator says you’re still in the green, so as you
Mark, Bitpro’s CEO, and Ethan Vera, COO of Luxor, discuss the factors behind the downward trend in GPU prices in an article for The Block. The last section of this post is a TL; DR on how this affects the future of GPU mining. Our TL;DR – Why are GPU prices dropping? The main factors
Mark participated in a panel discussion on what’s in the cards for GPU miners in the wake of proof of stake, after the beacon chain merge. Bits Be Trippin crashed the panel and was a key contributor. He was also ready with his video camera to capture the full panel (Thanks BBT!). The audio is
A lot of great contributors from the crypto mining industry lend perspective on why the larger players in the Ethereum mining space are still long on mining in this Coindesk article authored by David Pan.
It’s great to see all these new miners, it feels like 2017 all over again. Mining at a small scale is a fun hobby. But I’m seeing lots of the typical “X days till ROI” posts and I want to make sure the new guys understand what they’re actually getting into here, coming from someone
Lolminer’s Zombie mode has kept 4GB GPUs hashing for long after the Ethereum DAG exceeded 4 GB in epoch 382 on Dec.16th. In the weeks since, 4GB GPUs have decreased profitability with each successive epoch. Many miners are looking for alternative blockchains for their 4 GB cards. I’ll cover a few and discuss why your
Unfortunately, scammers have been using our name, logo and even address to take advantage of unsuspecting victims. Here is a list that is not comprehensive, so as always, be doubly careful with any company in the crypto space. Unless you are very familiar with cryptocurrencies, do not invest your money. Invest your time to become
Unfortunately, you will not be able to profitably mine an alternate altcoin with your 4GB cards once the 4GB DAG limit hits. For the math behind this assertion please see our more in-depth article here. Tl;dr – Seriously…you will not be able to profitably mine something else with 4GB cards for all but the early
PSA: No, you will not be able to profitably mine an alternate altcoin with your 4GB GPUs once the 4GB Ethereum DAG limit hits.
Update: As of April 2021, Zombie Mode keeps 4GB cards hashing profitably. The creativity within the mining community continues to be amazing. The next big change for miners will come with EIP-1559 scheduled for incorporation in July, which will reduce the reward to miners from fees. Make sure to look into it before investing in
